Scarce supply of pork in year-end amid Asf outbreaks: Ministry warns

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s warning, Vietnam will face dwindling supply of pork in the year-end and Tet holidays if African Swine Fever continues to devastate herds of pigs in the country.

In addition to warning, the Ministry asked its sub-divisions in localities to keep an eye on the development of the disease as well as supply-demand to freeze safe pork for future use.
Additionally, the Mnistry asked them to closely control supply sources of pork, subsidize pork prices, set up mobile stores of pork and pork processed products.
In reality, more and more fresh outbreaks of ASF nationwide whereas there has been no effective control. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai said that freezing pork for future use is the best solution at this time and the ministry is planning for this.
Moreover, Chairman of Nam Hanoi Foodstuff Company Vo Viet Dung said enterprises expect the Ministry of Finance to have transparent insurance policy for freezing safe pork.
