Nguyen Xuan Thanh, director of Tuyen Lam Lake Tourist Site in the central highland city of Da Lat, said on April 9 that the lake is showing signs of rising pollution levels with increase in algae, and dumping of household wastewater and fish feed.
The blue green algae from Bao Dai Waterfall is now invading Tuyen Lam Lake. About one-third of the water in the lake comes from the Bao Dai Waterfall.
Besides, household wastewater and fish feed left from the pilot program to breed coldwater fish in the lake, since June last year, is also contributing to the rise in lake pollution.
Authorized organs have proposed the lake management board soon build a reservoir to treat water from Bao Dai Waterfall and remove the fish cages from the lake.
The Tuyen Lam Lake Tourist Site has attracted 38 investment projects so far. Of these, only three are functioning while four more may be in operation this year.
