The event was attended by representatives from ministries and central agencies of Quang Tri province and Huong Hoa district, heroic mothers, war veterans and local people.
During 170 days of fighting at Khe Sanh, the armed forces and people killed 11,900 enemies, shot down 480 aircraft of different kinds, destroyed 120 military vehicles, hundreds of artilleries and seized many weapons.
The victory of the Road 9-Khe Sanh Campaign made important contributions to the signing of the Paris Peace Accords, ending the war and restoring peace in Vietnam in 1973.
50 years after liberation, Huong Hoa has strongly developed and overcome obstacles to become a model mountainous district.
