PM urges non-stop electronic toll collection system

The Prime Minister yesterday issued Directive No. 06/CT-TTg to demand a speedup in the application progress of the non-stop electronic toll collection system.

PM urges non-stop electronic toll collection system
After one year of exercising the Resolution of the Prime Minister on using the non-stop electronic collection  system, it is clear that the implementation has no success since no official documents have been issued about detailed assignments on management as well as operations of the system.
In addition, there has not been any specific route to transform to this new system in each toll booth, so the application lacks synchronization, creating much trouble for drivers.
Therefore, the Prime Minister asked that the Ministry of Transport cooperate with related bodies and ministries to create a common standard frame for the non-stop electronic toll collection system as a foundation to choose a suitable toll collector.
The PM also requested that the Ministry of Transport collaborate with the People’s Committee of provinces to prepare a report in the first quarter about a specific roadmap for the transformation of the manual tollbooths  to non-stop electronic toll collection system.
This must ensure the consistent use of only one technology in the non-stop electronic toll collection system nationwide, with a strong and synchronizing network, so that each vehicle only needs to use one identification card (terminal card) for all toll booths in the country.
Besides, the Prime Minister also requested to stop toll collection  in those toll plazas that did not follow the schedule until the implementation of non-stop electronic toll collection system.
