Effective urban planning is to help the low-income province sharpen its competitive edge and utilize its advantages to speed up socio-economic development, the Government leader said.

The province has great potentials for development, particularly wind and solar power, tourism and salt production, he said.

According to the province’s development master plan, approved by the Prime Minister, Ninh Thuan will focus on clean energy, tourism, agriculture-forestry- fisheries, real estate, urban planning development, education and training.

At the conference, co-held by the provincial administration and the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment, the province introduced 46 projects calling for direct investment and 27 projects calling for official development assistance (ODA) between 2011 and 2015.

During the event, representatives of the province and Argentina’s Impsa Group signed a memorandum of understanding whereby the group would build a factory in Ninh Thuan to manufacture parts of wind turbines and wind farms.

On the same day, the Prime Minister inspected work in a project designed to build a coastal road in the province.

The coastal province has been selected as the site for the country’s first two nuclear power plants – one in Ninh Hai District and the other in Thuan Nam District.
