The Party elite told the Central Military Party Committee of the assignment during a working session chaired by Party General Nong Duc Manh on August 26 to discuss army preparations for its Party Congress for the 2010-15 term.

Party organizations in the army should continue renovating in a comprehensive way, focusing on strengthening the leadership capacity and the combat power, said the Party politburo.

“Military Party units should strengthen the national defence capacity to foil all sabotage attempts by hostile forces, win in all cases and play a key role in safeguarding the territorial integrity, thus contributing to political and social stability and peace as well as firmly defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.”

The Politburo recognised great efforts made by the military Party Committee in overcoming numerous difficulties and challenges, both at home and globe, especially sabotage attempts by the enemy, over the past five years.

The Party Politburo lauded the military Party Committee’s achievements as a key force in overcoming natural disasters, especially in search and rescue work, and working closely with relevant agencies in providing timely consultancy for the Party and State on issues of military and national defence.

“These efforts have contributed to safeguarding national sovereignty and the environment of peace and stability for the national construction and defence,” said Politburo members.

They also praised the Central Military Party Committee for constantly increasing the national defence power while fulfilling its economic assignments, thus contributing to the nation’s socio-economic development.
