On occasion of the 52nd anniversary of Agent Orange catastrophe in Vietnam, the v?Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange (VAVA) in Ho Chi Minh City along with HCMC Television will organize the ‘Orange Journey’ program.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Tho, Chairman of the Association, said that HCMC has about 20,000 dioxin victims, including war veterans. The People’s Committee of HCMC has allotted five hectares in Moc Mon District to build ‘Orange Village’ at a cost of VND 100billion.
Moreover, 30 enterprises and many individuals have donated more than VND6.1 billion towards the ‘Orange Village’ project.
On this occasion, the VAVA awarded 70 scholarships for dioxin child victims, two charity homes for poor families, and financial aid to eight victims.
In related news, the Association displayed nearly 100 paintings at the HCMC Women’s Culture House to highlight the past catastrophe and call for more support for the Victims of Agent Orange.
