Nobel laureate Klaus von Klitzing comes to Vietnam

On August 4, Klaus von Klitzing, Nobel Prize-winning scientist in Physics in 1985 visited Binh Dinh Province to take part in ‘Meeting Vietnam’ Program.

Klaus von Klitzing is a well-known German physicist and is known for the discovery of the integer quantum Hall Effect.
 
Klaus von Klitzing is the first scientist among five Nobel Prize-winning scientists to participate in the 9th ‘Meeting Vietnam’ Program in Binh Dinh Province. He will also attend the inauguration of the International Center for Science and Interdisciplinary Education (ICISE) in Quy Nhon.

On August 5, Klaus von Klitzing will preside at the ‘Nano Physics’ conference. During this conference Klitzing will give two lectures on the integer quantum Hall Effect and Nanoscience.

Besides that, five Nobel Prize-winning scientists will come to Vietnam including Professor Jack Steinberger (Nobel Prize in Physics in 1988), David Gross (Nobel Prize in Physics in 2004), Georges Smoot (Nobel Prize in Physics in 2006), Sheldon Glashow (Nobel Prize in Physics in 1979) and Klaus von Klitzing (Nobel Prize in Physics in 1985).

According to the organizers, more than 100 scientists are attending the conference in Binh Dinh Province.

‘Meeting Vietnam’ Program will also be attended by Professor Rolf Heuer, Director General of the European Organization for Nuclear Research and Ngo Bao Chau, Fields medal winner.
