No adjustment in power, fuel prices

Referring to fuel prices, Nguyen Xuan Chien, deputy head of Domestic Market Department, said that the Ministries of Industry and Trade, and Finance, were closely watching the movement of fuel price and would order fuel companies to lower prices in accordance with Decree 84 on fuel trading.

As for the proposal of Dong Nai Province to call halt to building of the Dong Nai 6 and 6A Hydropower Plants because of negative impact to biodiversity, culture, historical values and the daily livelihood of local residents, Nguyen Khac Tho, deputy head of General Department of Energy, said that his department has instructed the investor to evaluate and report of the environmental impact to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The Ministry of Industry and Trade will collaborate with relevant departments to decide on carrying out the project or not.

According to Mr. Tho, any project that will cause a bad impact on the environment will be cancelled.

A report by the Ministry of Industry and Trade shows that industrial manufacturing index rose 4.5 percent in the last ten months.
Manufacturing has been improving steadily but still remains slow as the 10-month industrial manufacturing index was at 7 percent last year.
