Netherlands pledges to support HCMC against flooding & water management

Deputy Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem and a delegation of infrastructure and environment of the Netherlands led by Minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen co-signed a memorandum of understanding on increasing cooperation and the city's ability on climate change adaptation and water management in the second phase of 2016- 2018.

Deputy Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem and a delegation of infrastructure and environment of the Netherlands led by Minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen co-signed a memorandum of understanding on increasing cooperation and the city's ability on climate change adaptation and water management in the second phase of 2016- 2018.
 
At the meeting held yesterday the deputy chairman thanked and highly appreciated effective assistances on climate change adaptation, flood control and water management of the Netherlands in the previous years; especially, supports from authorities of Rotterdam city and Netherland Consulate General in HCMC.
 
Current weather situation as saltwater influx is a big challenge in both the city and the Mekong Delta. Thus, city’s leaders desired that the Netherlands would support HCMC to solve difficult problems.

Accordingly, the city’s departments and agencies will pay works with the partner to research technological application for water filter in the city in the next visit.
