Nearly 5,000 disadvantaged kids supported in action month

In response to the Action Month for kids in June themed “For safe lives and preventing accidents for children”, the National Fund for Vietnamese Children under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs is implementing practical activities to help disadvantaged children across the country.

In response to the Action Month for kids in June themed “For safe lives and preventing accidents for children”, the National Fund for Vietnamese Children under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs is implementing practical activities to help disadvantaged children across the country.

Total spending for these activities is estimated around VND2.6 billion (US$116,167) benefiting nearly 5,000 kids.

The fund May 25 announced some major activities in the action month including meeting for 55 poor children in the country; meeting between State President Tran Dai Quang and kids in which the President will laud kids who overcome their difficulty. This is a practical activity to encourage poor children to better themselves in their lives.

On the occasion, the Fund received nearly VND10 billion from organizations and individuals.

Currently, the Fund plans to offer VND1 million each to 50 children from low-income families who have good achievements in study, three families of injured kids each received VND2 million;  18 hearing-aid machines to disable kids each worth VND13 million and 366 gifts to the participants.

The Fund also started construction of Lung Liu Primary School in the mountainous northern province of Cao Bang’s Dan Chu Commune in Hoa An District worth VND4.6 billion and supporting 14 specially needy children in the northern province of Nam Dinh and 50 poor children in the mountainous northern province of Lao Cai for long time each VND5 million and VND1 million respectively.
