The National Fund for Vietnamese Children and several other organizations are hosting events to present gifts to around 3,000 poor and disadvantaged children during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
In response to ‘Month for Children’ nationwide, the Mid-Autumn Festival is being held for children in the northern provinces of Hanoi, Bac Giang, Thai Binh, Hoa Binh, and the highland province of Dak Lak and Ho Chi Minh City.
Gifts worth VND1 billion (US$47,000) will be distributed to poor and disadvantaged children.
Children will join in activities like folk games, lantern design contest, lion dances, music performances, eating festival cake and fruit and much more.
Some 500 disabled and poor children from the Xa Dan Junior High School in Hanoi will take part in traditional and folk games and receive presents worth around VND100 million ($4,736)
The National Fund for Vietnamese Children will allocate VND50 billion ($2.4 million) to support children nationwide in educational, medical and musical programs in 2013.
Around 420 orphans and disabled children in Hanoi, the northern provinces of Lang Son, Phu Tho, Hoa Binh, Vinh Phuc enjoyed the Mid-Autumn Festival in Hanoi.
The program was broadcast live on Vietnam Television on September 18.
