Nalgae abates intensity while closer to central Vietnam

Nalgae reduced to level 9 to move at 75-88 kilometers an hour and was located 18.2 degrees north latitude and 111.3 degrees east longitude, 400 kilometers northeast of Thua Thien-Hue-Da Nang coastline at 7pm on October 4.

The storm is expected to move westwards at 10-15 kilometers an hour to lie 18.1 degrees north latitude and 108.6 degrees east longitude, 230 kilometers east-northeast of the provinces between Nghe An and Quang Binh by early morning of October 5.

Wind gales will continue to drop to level 8 at 62-74 kilometers an hour.

In related news, the central provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Quang Tri are still struggling under flood conditions.

Over 1,000 households have been inundated in Vu Quang District in Ha Tinh Province. The Ho Chi Minh highway section in Huong Tho Commune was submerged under 1.5-2 meters of water by the afternoon of October 3.

Meanwhile, Quang Binh Province has reported another two people dead from floods in Quang Trach District.

Several people are still living in make-shift camps in the mountains, waiting for floods to recede in Tan Hoa Commune in Minh Hoa District.

Essential relief commodities like instant noodles, blankets, clothes and rice have been transported to people in Tan Hoa Commune.

Prolonged heavy rainfall on October 3 has increased the flood levels of rivers, placing Quang Binh in higher danger and more flooding.

Heavy downpours have caused more flooding and isolated some areas in Quang Tri Province. Some parts of Hai Tho Commune in Hai Lang District are completely cut off by floodwaters.

Other news
