NA leader joins International Day of Older Persons

An anniversary ceremony to mark the International Day of Older Person (October 1) was held at the Vietnam-Soviet Cultural Friendship Palace in Hanoi yesterday.

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan attended in the ceremony to offer gifts to the old people with difficult life.

Head of the Mass Mobilisation Commission of the Party Central Committee Truong Thi Mai and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai offered flowers and highlighted important contributions of individuals and organizations in taking care older persons. 

The Association of Elderly People was founded by President Ho Chi Minh.

Over 22 years of the establishment, the association had nearly 9 million members, accounting for 90 percent of total elderly people nationwide.
