"Month for the poor” movement launched nationwide

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee has launched the “Month for the poor” drive which will begin from Oct 17 to November 18 to raise fund for disadvantaged people and flood victims in the central region.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee has launched the “Month for the poor” drive which will begin from Oct 17 to November 18 to raise fund for disadvantaged people and flood victims in the central region.

The campaign aims to respond to the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (October 17) and the Day for Vietnamese Poor.

Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan has called for individuals, organizations, enterprises and overseas Vietnamese to take part in the “Month for the poor” and help disadvantaged people overcome difficulties and escape poverty.

The event will focus on helping poor households in border and island areas; and the poor that severely affected by drought and salt intrusion.

At the ceremony, individuals and organizations have donated over 348 billion VND (15.6 million USD) to the fund.
