According to the People’s Committee of Phu Yen District, so far 81 organizations and 20 individuals both locally and internationally have come forward with donations worth VND2.2 billion ($110,000) in support of the victims’ families.

Many of the victims’ families are very poor and most of them do not have an insurance cover.

The Standing Board of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee has provided the victims’ families with VND5million ($250) per family and VND3million ($150) to each injured person.

The landslide occurred on April 1, triggered after a large explosion. The massive slide at the quarry also injured six workers. The authorities have concluded that regulations were violated at the mining site premises.
