MoIC offers over VND6 bil to support people in flood-hit areas in Central

Minister of Information and Communications yesterday arrived in communes in the central provinces of Quang Binh and Ha Tinh to give gifts to people in two flood-hit communes. Gifts totally cost VND6.2 billion (US$ 277,760) and Vietnam's leading mobile network operator MobiFone’s social fund offered VND4.7 billion to natural disaster victims in the central provinces.

Minister of Information and Communications yesterday arrived in communes in the central provinces of Quang Binh and Ha Tinh to give gifts to people in two flood-hit communes. Gifts totally cost VND6.2 billion (US$ 277,760) and Vietnam's leading mobile network operator MobiFone’s social fund offered VND4.7 billion to natural disaster victims in the central provinces.

Gifts include 100 tons of rice or equivalent to VND1.5 billion (US$ 67,200) and

Mission team led by MoIC Minister Truong Minh Tuan arrived in districts Tuyen Hoa, Quang Trach, Le Thuy in Quang Binh  province and Huong Khe District in Ha Tinh Province. Minister Tuan encouraged residents to help each other to overcome the losses. The Minister also paid visit to Hoang Van Tam in Long Chau village in commune Phu Hoa who saved 15 people in the deluge.

Appraising his good deed, Minister Tuan gave him VND15 million proposing government in Quang Binh Province to grant him certificate of merit soon.

Before on October, Minister Tuan paid visits tp inhabitants in District Huong Khe in Ha Tinh Province  where the minister gave cash of VND1 billion to the local social fund, 290 textbooks from first grade to ninth grade, 33 sets of equipment  and 12 sets of medicine and 30 tons of rice. While in Quang Binh Province, the Minister gave over VND3.6 billion in cash to the local fund, 600 textbooks, sets of equipment and 24 sets of drug and 70 tons of rice.

Representatives from Vinamilk, Vietnam's largest dairy producer, also paid visits to give gifts each worth VND1 million to 200 low-income families in Cam Xuyen District in Ha Tinh Province which suffered serious losses in the flood.

In addition, Vinamilk also gave VND5 million to 17 year old woman Nguyen Thi Thai who have blood cancer and 70 year old Nguyen Thi Lan in village 1 in Cam Thach Commune in Cam Xuyen who is raising two grandchildren respectively and gave a bank account of VND15 million to relatives of Nguyen Thi Loan in Dai Nai Commune in Ha Tinh Tow whose boat was turn down on river and leaves behind two children.

Vinamilk said that from October 21 to 23, it will give 1,800 gifts to residents in Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces worth VND2 billion.

Yesterday, Nguyen Thanh Dat from the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the southern province of Binh Duong said that the province will spend VND2 billion taken from the province’s social fund to give gifts to inhabitants in Quang Binh and Ha Tinh provinces each VND1 billion in cash.

Before, province administration also encouraged enterprises and benefactors in the province to join hand in helping flood victims; subsequently, it collected nearly VND5 billion. Accordingly total VND7 billion will be spent to be gifts for victims in central provinces.
