MoET, World Vision sign agreement on ending violence against children

The Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) and the World Vision yesterday signed an agreement on implementing the initiative of ending physical violence against children at home and school.

The cooperation agreement including programs and activities will focus on changing behavior of teachers and students for maintaining a safe educational environment without violence
The program will be held across 14 cities and provinces comprising of the northern provinces of Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang, Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, the central provinces of Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Binh Thuan, the central highlands province of Dak Nong, and Ho Chi Minh City.
Knowledge and skills against violence will be taught in schools to help teachers and students avoid harsh punishment. It is considered as one way of teaching children effectively without using physical abuse.
It also helps instruct pupils to detect violence risks and protect themselves.
MoET Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Nghia pointed out school violence has been prevalent and complicatedly developed lately badly impacting on children’s spirit and educational environment.
Therefore, she said there should be more measures against violence to be implemented calling for joint hand of families, schools and the community to solve the matter.
