Mass fish deaths in Ba Ria Vung Tau after heavy rains

Around 294 tons of fish have died at 90 fish breeding floating rafts in Long Son commune of Ba Ria- Vung Tau province in the previous days, reported director of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Ba Ria- Vung Tau province Tran Van Cuong.

The fish deaths are types of butterfish and Rachycentron Canadum with the estimated damage of around VND 29 billion.

The director said that the main reason was due to heavy rain causing water to pour down on Cha Va river and lack of oxygen and salinity in the water.

At present, a large amount of dead fish are on the water surface at fish breeding floating rafts.
