Lorry crash leaves 7 dead in Hai Duong

A lorry, plated 29C-71953, crashed into a delegation from the Kim Luong communal chapter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the northern province of Hai Duong on January 21, leaving seven dead at the site.

The accident occurred on National Highway No.5 where the delegation was going from the foot of an overpass to the local martyrs’ cemetery. 

Seven others were sent to hospital, one of whom also died. 

Upon learning about the news, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee Truong Hoa Binh sent his profound condolences to families of the victims. 

He asked the provincial People’s Committee to continue directing rescue operations and give top priority to saving victims in order to reduce fatalities from the incident. 

Binh assigned Minister of Transport and permanent Deputy Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee Nguyen Van The and Deputy Chairman of the committee Khuat Viet Hung to visit and condole victims’ families, and work with the local authorities to direct the post-accident recovery. 

The provincial People’s Committee decided to help each of the victims’ families with VND5 million (US$220).
