The Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City Wednesday signed off on the two projects, one to purchase medical equipment for the General Hospital of Binh Minh District, Vinh Long Province and the other to build roads in the province’s My Hoa commune.

The first, worth US$83,070, is to provide treatment for those injured in the Can Tho bridge collapse and healthcare services for local residents. Binh Minh District is where most victims of the collapse reside.

The second project, worth US$62,680, is to build a 5.2 km road in My Hoa Commune and a dike to protect almost 1,500 hectares of agricultural land from floods.

The same day, the Association of Japanese Enterprises in HCMC donated some VND406 million (US$25,375) to Vinh Long Province’s Fatherland Front Committee to assist victims there.
