Int’l Free Hugs Day to open in HCMC

International Free Hugs Day under “Embracing the Heart, sharing the Love” slogan is scheduled to be held in Ho Chi Minh City on July 24.

 

The event is aimed to bring people together; help young people raise awareness as well as understand further about sharing emotion via hugs.

 

Free Hugs Day is one of annual activities of Free Hugs Vietnam (FHV), a non-profit organization of the youth. Nowadays, Free Hugs Campaign in Vietnam attracts crowded young people and media, contributing to spread message for active life in Vietnamese community.

 

Free Hugs Day was first launched in Vietnam in 2007. Up to now, the event has attracted the participation of hundreds of thousands of young people across the country featuring beautiful images in heart of local residents and travelers.

 

The campaign was first initiated in Australia in 2004 by Juan Mann. At that time, he took a board writing the words FREE HUGS in the Sydney with the target of waiting for a person hug him because of feeling alone in his live.

 

The campaign has become well- known international activity since 2006 as the music video about Juan Mann was showed on YouTube, which has had over 77 million viewers.

The good action also was implemented by volunteers in 80 countries around the world, including Vietnam.
