IMF director: “Vietnam steps up comprehensive development”

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong hosted a reception for Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde yesterday evening on the occasion of her visit and work to Vietnam.

Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong congratulated Mrs. Christine Lagarde were appointed for second term as IMF chief; and he highly appreciated the IMF Chief's visit. 

At the reception, Christine Lagarde said she has deeply impressed with comprehensive economic- social and educational development of Vietnam in the previous years. She also highly appreciated development strategy of the southeastern country towards quality and sustainability.

Christine Lagarde would like to continue to cooperate further with Vietnam; and be willing to support technologies and policy advisory. for the partner in the upcoming times.

Earlier, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong had a meeting with the IMF director. The chairman stressed: “The cooperative relations between Vietnam and IMF are developing in the various sectors, especially, in economy and technology & training infrastructure assistance.

"Ho Chi Minh City will focus on stable economic growth connecting with environment protection and social welfare. The city also takes advantage of ODA capital to implement urban projects, and call for investors”, added the chairman.
