HCMC proposes investment allocation for HCMC - Moc Bai Expressway

Leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh province yesterday worked on the construction of Ho Chi Minh City- Moc Bai Expressway.

The expressway connects Belt Road 3 in Hoc Mon district of Ho Chi Minh City with Moc Bai Border Gate in Tay Ninh province with the length of 53.5 kilometers and six to eight traffic lanes.

The project is scheduled for two phases. The four-lane expressway will be built from HCMC to Moc Bai in the first phase. In the second phase the expressway will be expanded to eight lanes for HCMC-Trang Bang section and six lanes for Trang Bang- Moc Bai section.

Total investment in the first phase costs VND 10,688 billion (US$ 460.6 million).

The two localities suggested the Prime Minister to allow them to be the investors of the project, aiming to speed up the expressway.

Each province also wanted to pay for site clearance with their owned budget.

Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City will spend about VND 2,000 billion (US$ 86 million) and Tay Ninh will use VND 1,000 billion (US$ 43 million) for site clearance.

The remaining sum of money is expected to be financed by other investors via bidding.
