HCMC officials visited and gave money to 57 workers who lost their jobs due to a fire December 10 at a wood processing factory, Tan Tien Dat, in District 7.
The deputy chairwoman of HCMC People’s Committee, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, and the representatives of the city’s Labor Trade Union and Dong A (East Asia) Bank gave each worker VND700,000 ($40) and a gift worth 400,000.
This is just one of many initiatives the newspaper Lao Dong (Labor) has for its program ‘help workers overcome’.
The fire destroyed equipment, machines, and wooden products and materials. Many of the workers who lost their jobs have yet to find new employment.
