That was announced by head of the Hanoi Party Committee’s Propaganda and Education Board Nguyen Van Phong at a press conference yesterday.
Implementing the central government’s instruction, the Hanoi Party Committee asked the city People’s Committee to focus on the inspection to clarify local residents’ complaints and denouncements concerning land use in Dong Tam commune.
The city People’s Committee assigned My Duc district authorities to continue solving the complaints and denouncements in accordance with the law.
On behalf of Hanoi leaders, Mr. Phong thanked press agencies for informing of Dong Tam case truthfully, sufficiently and objectively and contributing in preventing deformed information on social media from further complicating the situation.
In the upcoming time, the Hanoi People’s Committee and My Duc district will try to convince commune residents of agreement in seriously implementing the city’s policies, ensure security and order.
Residents in Dong Tam commune on April 15 illegally arrested 38 policemen and officials to oppose local authorities’ way of solving their complaints and denouncements relating to Senh field land reclamation.
Afterward, they set free 19 officials and continued detaining the remaining ones at the cultural house in Hoanh village, Dong Tam commune. They fenced all ways to the village and refused to contact anyone outside the village.
Press agencies have tried to bridge the villagers and the government.
During the detainment time, the officials were well treated and supplied with sufficient food, water and clothes. The villagers then apologized for the illegal detention, wished to back to normal life and hoped the Party and State to forgive them and completely investigate and settle the land dispute.
On April 22, they released the rest 19 officials after chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung came to Hoanh village, talked to residents, saw and eyed those happening there as locals’ desire, committed to not conducting criminal prosecution against them and comprehensively investigating the case.
