‘The Global Fund’ to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria will provide US$86 million to Vietnam for a health care project for the period 2012-2016, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Health.
‘The Global Fund’ (GFATM) will be divided into two phases. The first phase will be implemented in 15 provinces, and will focus on providing training to 1,000 doctors who have done part time medical courses and around 6,000 medical workers in ethnic minority villages in rural areas. The training will run from 6 to 9 months.
It will also provide training in prevention of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, besides healthcare for mothers and children of medical workers in communes, districts and private clinics.
The second phase of the project will boost the ability of the National Center for Drug Information and Adverse Drug Reaction ( DI&ADR Center).
It will build and provide a drug database, including information on pharmaceuticals, as well as collect, analyze reports and give feedback on adverse drug reactions, poor quality drugs and irrational drug use.
