Fog disrupts flights in Northern Vietnam

Flights were disrupted on December 11 at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, due to bad weather and thick fog.

Vietnam Airlines had to cancel, delay or reschedule 52 domestic and international flights for both departure and arrival at the airport from 8 am onwards.
 
The national flag carrier was forced to cancel 6 flights, two flights on the Hanoi-Vinh-Hanoi route, two on the Hanoi-Can Tho-Hanoi route and two on the Hanoi-Dien Bien-Hanoi route.
 
Six flights had to be redirected to other airports.
 
The flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi were directed to land at Da Nang International Airport and Vientiane International Airport, one flight from Da Nang to Hanoi was redirected to Vientiane International Airport, and two flights from Can Tho and Nha Trang to Hanoi were directed to land at Da Nang International Airport.
 
The carrier said that it has planned to add an additional flight for the Hanoi-Can Tho-Hanoi route on December 12 and that it will get back to its normal schedule time as soon as the weather clears.
 
On the same day, three Jetstar Pacific flights on the Hanoi route were made to land at Hai Phong Airport instead of Noi Bai Airport.
