Five dead, one missing in flash floods in central region

Heavy rains over the weekend in the central region have inundated thousands of houses, with five people reported dead and one still missing.

According to the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center, heavy downpours will continue through November 5-6 and might trigger flooding along rivers in Quang Nam and Quang Ngai Provinces.

Torrential rainfall will continue to flood thousands of households in lowlands of Quang Nam, Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Ngai Provinces.

Do Van Nhat, head of the Son Vien police station in Nong Son District of Quang Nam Province said that the bodies of four people killed by the flash floods were found by local authorities, while the whereabouts of 14 year old Nguyen Huu Khanh from Thua Thien-Hue Province are still unknown.
