Fishermen in Duy Hai Commune of Duy Xuyen District in the central province of Quang Nam on Tuesday afternoon found the body of one of the five missing soldiers in the recent boat tragedy.
Local fishermen found the body of soldier Le Van Chi, a resident of Thang Binh District, five kilometers from where gigantic waves overturned the boat, while it was just 600 km from the shore.
Chi was among the five soldiers reported missing after the accident near Cua Dai Beach in Hoi An town last Sunday.
Le Phuoc Thanh, chairman of the provincial People’s Committee on Tuesday awarded 13 rescue teams and the individuals involved in rescue efforts to save people on board the boat. The unfortunate incident claimed three lives with four still reported missing.
Rescue efforts are continuing to searching for the missing four soldiers.
