Education for ethnic indigenous youths should be more improved

Greater attention must be paid to ethnic indigenous youths especially education so that young people can contribute to the country's development, Vice-chairwoman of Vietnam's National Assembly Tong Thi Phong said at a meeting with groups of outstanding ethnic minority students yesterday.

As per the report on education growth and achievement of excelent students, Minister- Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Affairs Do Van Chien said that for past years, the Party and the Government issued educational policies to improve education in mountainous regions in order to raise human resource quality of ethnic minorities.

In 2017, some 161 students from 26 ethnic groups across the country had been praised. 95 of them won prizes in the national competitions of mathematics, physics, chemistry, literature, geography, history and four of them won medals of international sport competitions.

Vice Chairwoman Phong lauded their good studying results believing that these studens will be pillars for the country's and the mountainous regions' socioeconomic growth.
