The Community Integration and Development Foundation and Cong An (Police) newspaper in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday gave 1,000 bread carts to disadvantaged people to help them integrate into the society.
Each bread cart costs VND3,345,000 (US$148.8). The organizers said that it will give additional 100 other bread carts to needy people and some special people from now to the end of 2015.
Till September 27, the organizer received 55 proposals to have such vehicles from the Department of Police in HCMC; the Fatherland Front Committee in Tan Binh District; Women Union in Tan Phu District; the department of Labor, Invalids and the Social Affairs in Go Vap and Cu Chi Districts.
Of 55 people were offered bread carts, 33 people released from prison, people who have rehabilitated from drug addiction, relatives of prisoners, and 22 others are from family economic condition in poverty line or close poverty line. They were provided knowledge of food safety and hygiene
The program launched by the Foundation from June, 2013. Until now, 114 people have used the carts to improve their living.
The 1,000 bread carts were given people in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring districts. People who completed serving the sentence and their family condition is difficult, needy households, street teenagers, young people who start up their careers and women who finish serving their sentence.
