Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai received a group of Japanese parliamentarians on March 9, headed by Okada Katsuya, Vice President of Japan’s Democratic Party.

Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai received a group of Japanese parliamentarians on March 9, headed by Okada Katsuya, Vice President of Japan’s Democratic Party.

Deputy PM Hai briefed the guests on Vietnam’s socio-economic development and the policies and efforts made by Vietnam to encourage investment and ensure economic growth.

He spoke of the remarkable role played by cooperation and Japan’s provision of official development assistance (ODA) in the process of Vietnam’s economic development, particularly in relation to infrastructure, investment in rural areas and poverty reduction programmes.

He confirmed that the Vietnamese Government always makes effective use of ODA capital and works closely with the Japanese Government to clarify and examine the use and management of this vital source of capital.

Katsuya voiced his impressions of the economic development and political and social stability of Vietnam. He said that Vietnam has historically been his country’s important partner, and that boosting multi-faceted cooperation with the Southeast Asian nation is one of Japan’s key foreign policies.
