Deputy PM visits families of Agent Orange in Bac Giang Province

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Rinh, President of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange, visited and gave VND50 million (US$2,300) to each family of victims of Agent Orange in the northern mountainous province of Bac Giang.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Rinh, President of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange, visited and gave VND50 million (US$2,300) to each family of victims of Agent Orange in the northern mountainous province of Bac Giang.

The Deputy PM shared the difficulties of these families and hoped that the amount would help repair their houses and overcome some of their hardships. Nhan affirmed that the party and government would always pay special attention to them, both spiritually and materially.

The country has around 200,000 of three generations of Agent Orange victims who receive social welfare, but in fact more than three million were exposed to the dangerous chemical. They all need special attention of the society and international community.

The Vietnamese government has issued preferential policies for them and recently, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs have been asked to draw up more benefits for Agent Orange victims.
