Deputy PM suggests Dong Nai building 20,000 social houses by 2020
At the meeting presided by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, deputy chairwoman Nguyen Hoa Hiep said that there are 59 nursery groups in the provincial industrial parks with one million laborers and over 324 preschools including 225 public preschools and 99 non-public facilities. Moreover, it has over 1,000 groups of daycare centers.
Ms. Hiep said that the rapid development of industrial parks has resulted in the residential zoning with high rate of female workers and children in preschool age.
Living in far away place without relatives, female workers face difficulties after their maternity leave meanwhile public schools receive kids of locals with permanent residency registration. Accordingly, workers have no choice but resort to private daycare centers with high tuition fee and poor quality.
Ms. Hiep said that child abuse often takes place in privately-run nurseries and most of victims are workers’ kids.
At the meeting, the authority in Dong Nai petitioned the government to have regulation asking investors of industrial parks to build preschools for workers’ kids.
Furthermore, the government should have preferential policies on land , credit and taxation to encourage social contributions in building such facilities in industrial parks and export processing zones.
Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam lauded the province’s efforts in calling for construction of nurseries especially in these special zones. He proposed the Ministry of Education and training to provide training course to owners of private nurseries.
Besides, he asked the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and Dong Nai province to solve barriers of land policies for construction of educational institutions.
Mr. Dam suggested the province building 20,000 social housing apartments for the period 2016-2020 as its plan.
