Deputy PM calls on improvement in traffic safety

Phuc ordered related agencies, departments and local governments to decrease the ratio in traffic accidents from 10 to 5 percent, as proposed by the National Assembly.

Vice PM Phuc said the numbers of accidents, traffic gridlocks have decreased yet the numbers of deaths have increased compared to the same period last year and more people have violated traffic regulations.

Phuc called on local authorities to curb traffic accidents in their localities by reviewing accident black spots to reduce serious accidents as well as issue harsh penalties on violators.

The Ministry of Public Security will be required to send more wardens to Highways such as Highway 1, 5, 18 to work with the Ministry of Transport to impose fines on trucks that cause damage to roads.
