Phan Dinh Ngo, director of the Quang Nam Traffic and Transport Works Joint Stock Company, said the bridge has been in very poor shape for several years now.

A proposal to rebuild it has been sent to the provincial authority, he said, adding the area would be closed to all vehicles and boats until then.
