A delegation of high ranking national leaders paid floral tributes to martyrs at the Monument of War Heroes and visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi on occasion of the 66th anniversary of ‘War Invalids and Martyrs Day’ on July 27.
Nguyen Phu Trong, Party General Secretary; Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; Nguyen Sinh Hung, Chairman of the National Assembly; Huynh Dam, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee; Nong Duc Manh and Le Kha Phieu, former Party General Secretaries; Nguyen Van An, former Chairman of the National Assembly and other senior officials also offered flowers at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
Flowers were also offered to heroic martyrs on Truong Sa Archipelago in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa to commemorate soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country's Sea and Islands.
Ten of war veterans and martyrs’ families from across the country offered incense and flowers to martyrs at cemeteries in Quang Tri Province on July 27.
On the same day, Le Hoang Quan, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, visited and offered gifts to Vietnamese heroic mothers, Nguyen Thi Che and Le Thi Ngan, whose husband and sons were martyred.
Hua Ngoc Thuan, Deputy Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, also visited and offered gifts to Vietnamese heroic mother Bui Thi Dinh in District 4.
Binh Phuoc Province commemorated 9,000 martyrs who had sacrificed their lives during the anti-American resistance war.
War invalids, poor people and families under social welfare in Cu Chi District in HCMC and Pleiku Province received free medical treatment provided by the Saigon-Gia Dinh medical corp., Vietnam Red Cross, Vietel Gia Lai and Army Hospital.
A concert to raise funds for veteran soldiers, martyrs families and Vietnamese heroic mothers was held on July 27.
