Commemorative Area of late President Ton Duc Thang recognized as ‘National Special Relic’

A ceremony was held in My Hoa Hung Commune of Long Xuyen City in An Giang Province in the Mekong Delta on July 17, to recognize the Commemorative Area of the late President Ton Duc Thang as a ‘National Special Relic’.

State President Truong Tan Sang, province leaders, the late President Ton Duc Thang’s family members and local residents were present at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, State President Truong Tan Sang said that by recognizing the Commemorative Area of late President Ton Duc Thang as a ‘National Special Relic’ we are honoring the outstanding contributions made by the late President for the country and setting a bright example for future generations.

The life and career of the late President Ton Duc Thang is a great moral example of a true communist soldier who went through severe hardships in war time and devoted his entire life to the cause of national liberation and unification, he added.

An Giang Province has invested VND10 billion to upgrade the historical site over an area of 62,000 square meters. The Commemorative Area will display hundreds of exhibits and photographs of the late President Ton Duc Thang.

The country will celebrate the 124th anniversary of the late President Ton Duc Thang on August 20, this year.
