City leader receives new Cuban Consul General

Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong yesterday received Ms. Indira Lopez Arguelles, new Cuban Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the reception, the city leader welcomed the Cuban Consul General in the new working term in Ho Chi Minh City and introduced current city’s social and economic development achievement.

The city has strived to become an economy, education and trade center of the Southeast Asian region in the 2020- 2025 period and in order to reach the target the city needs supports from foreign investors including Cuban investors, the chairman said.

Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong also desired to strengthen further multifaceted cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City with Cuba’s localities, especially in education and health sectors.

The Cuban Consul General appreciated the city’s position and role in contributing in Vietnam’s economic development, and she wished to collaborate with the city’s authorities to develop the bilateral relationship in the upcoming time.
