City desires to expand multifaceted cooperation with U.S and Canada

Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong yesterday had a meeting with Ms. Mary Tarnowka, the United States Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City and Mr. David Ross, the Country Manager for Southeast Asia at the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA).

At the meeting, the city leader appreciated the multifaceted cooperation relations between the United States with Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City.

He welcomed the upcoming training programs for the city’s senior leaders supported by the US as well as hoped that the U.S. consul general would early adopt the cooperation program and support Ho Chi Minh City to become a smart city in the period of 2017- 2020 and vision towards 2020.

On the same day, Deputy Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen received Denzil Minnan Wong, Deputy Mayor of Toronto city of Canada.

On the occasion, the leaders witnessed a signing ceremony of an agreement on strengthening the friendship cooperation in tourism, construction, public transportation, environmental protection, science, culture, education and innovation between Ho Chi Minh City and Toronto.

Speaking at the ceremony, deputy chairman Tran Vinh Tuyen said that Canada invested 68 projects in the city with total capital of over US$ 110 million.

Mr. Denzil Minnan Wong expressed his impression about the city’s development and said that similarities in development of economy and building of smart city are the good opportunities for the two cities to share experience, strenghthen cooperation.
