Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Ho Ky Minh said relations between Vietnam and China, as well as between Da Nang and Chinese localities are thriving.

Da Nang has established the friendship and cooperation with four localities of China, he said, noting that investment and trade links between Da Nang and Chinese organisations and businesses have developed with 12 Chinese projects in the Vietnamese city.

There are 17 air routes connecting major cities and provinces of China with Da Nang.  China is always among countries and territories having the largest number of tourists to the city.

The Consulate General is expected to promote collaboration in economy, trade, culture and science, and expand the friendship between Da Nang and its surrounding cities and provinces, and Chinese localities and partners in a more pragmatic and effective manner, contributing to enhancing Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

The Da Nang authorities will create the best conditions for the Consulate General to operate effectively, in line with international practices and relevant laws, as well as the traditional relationship between the two countries, Minh said.

Chinese Consul General to Da Nang Xi Hui affirmed that the Consulate General will closely coordinate with competent Vietnamese agencies to promote exchange and cooperation between cities and provinces under its charge and Chinese localities, helping to consolidate the neighbourliness, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and China.
