Charity event raises funds for Vietnamese disabled children

A charity event raising money for disable children and marking the International Day of Disabled Persons was organized at Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Cultural House on December 3.

The charity event created a playing field for children with many activities, such as music and circus performance; exchanges with disabled people, artist Le Minh Chau, and the couple Cao Ngoc Hung and Nguyen Thi Hai who won highest prizes at 4th ASEAN ParaGames.
Le Minh Chau is well-known for his paintings which are painted entirely with his mouth. He is the main character in the short-documentary film, Chau, beyond the lines. The movie was one of the nominations at the 88th Academy Awards in Documentary Short Subject category.
The event collected VND26 million from selling a painting of artist Le Minh Chau that will be donated to support disabled people; and received nearly VND100 million which will be handed over to the Fund for Vietnamese Disabled Children to help kids in the upcoming Tet holidays.
The organization board also offered 500 gifts to children with disabilities, including 2 scholarships worth VND3 million of each, 32 scholarships worth VND2 million of each and 10 scholarships worth VND500,000 of each.
