Ceremony marks late President’s birthday

A solemn ceremony was held in Ho Chi Minh City on August 20 to mark the 122nd birthday of late President Ton Duc Thang.

On addressing the ceremony, Nguyen Huy Can, the President of the city’s Confederation of Labour spoke about President Ton’s revolutionary cause and his life.

President Ton, who was President of Vietnam from December 1976 to 1981, devoted his entire life to the nation and its people and was seen as a shining example of patriotism with revolutionary morals and a simple life style.

To mark the occasion, an exhibition of over 140 documents, photos and artefacts on the friendship between President Ton Duc Thang and President Ho Chi Minh are on display at the Ton Duc Thang Museum in Ho Chi Minh City.
