Cai Mep- Thi Vai port receives Millau Bridge Ship

Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Cong said that the Millau Bridge is the large heavy-loaded ship under the CKYHE Alliance which ships cargo from Europe to Asia and vice versa. It has 366 meters long and 52 meters wide, with its capacity of 14,000 TEU (1 TEU equivalent to 20 feet).

Currently, Cai Mep- Thi Vai Port becomes the destination for the world’s large vessels. As many as three large ships docked at the port including 963, 000 TEU in 2013, 1, 2 million TEU in 2014, and over 1, 3 million TEU in 2015.

In the first three months of this year, the international sea port received nearly 423, 000 TEU vessels, an increase of 57 percent compared to the same period of last year.

The Cai Mep- Thi Vai port will get more heavy- load vessels, the Ministry of Transport is planning to develop and dig in its trenches to be able to receive 160, 000 tons ships.
