Cabinet in preparation for upcoming NA meeting

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has asked Government ministers and relevant agencies to prepare documents and draft laws for the upcoming fifth session of the 12th National Assembly.

PM Dung asked the Minister of Planning and Investment to report the country’s socioeconomic performance in 2008, implementation of this year’s socioeconomic plans and issuance of Government bonds in 2009.

The Ministry was asked to work with the Finance Ministry and the Central Bank to report the effects of the Government’s economic stimulus package.

The Minister of Finance was asked to report on tax reduction and exemption, and draw up public debt management law.

Relevant ministries were asked to prepare reports on management and use of social insurance, management of food hygiene and safety, and draft law on medical examination and treatment. 
 
Vietnam’s National Assembly meets twice a year to pass new laws and approve Government policy and the national budget. The National Assembly’s Standing committee meets once a month to review the implementation of the laws and policies.
