Leaders of bus stations in Ho Chi Minh City have said that they would not increase fares in the upcoming one-day National Holiday, September 2, because the number of passengers was expected not to hike significantly.
The National Holiday this year will fall on a Wednesday.
Deputy Director of Mien Dong Bus Station Thuong Thanh Hai yesterday said that the fares would remain unchanged over normal. Those transport firms who wanted to lift their fares must send a proposal in writing to the Department of Finance.
Mien Dong Bus Station serves passengers to central and northern regions and the Central Highlands.
Mien Tay Bus Station, taking passengers to the Mekong Delta, has also announced unmoved fares in the holiday. Firms wanting to increase the fare must send their plans to authorized agencies and announcement to the station management before August 28.
Director of An Suong Bus Station Nguyen Tan Loc released the same statement on the same time.
It is expected that passenger number will surge five percent over normal on September 1-2 to swing from 43,000-45,000 a day. Holidaymakers from HCMC will most travel to short-haul destinations such as Vung Tau, Da Lat, Phan Thiet and Nha Trang.
