Bodies of missing Su-22 pilots found

The body of the last military pilot, who went missing after his plane crashed in mid–April, was found on April 30 evening, the Rescue Operation Headquarter said.

The body of captain Nguyen Anh Tu was discovered about 4km off the coast of Hon Da Be Island in the south central province of Binh Thuan.

Earlier, the body of Deputy Commander of Regiment 937 Le Van Nghia was recovered on April 28 along with parts of the fallen Su-22 jet, number 5857, in the waters off Phu Quy Island in Binh Thuan.

The two Su-22 fighter jets took off from Thanh Son Military Airport in Ninh Thuan province in the morning of Aril 16 for a training session. They lost contact a few hours later.

 The jets’ estimated crash position was 15 kilometres north of Phu Quy Island bordering Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces.
