Australian naval ships make port call in HCM City

Royal Australian Navy frigates HMAS Anzac and Toowoomba and auxiliary oiler HMAS Success, arrived at Sai Gon Port in Ho Chi Minh City on April 19, beginning its four-day goodwill visit to Vietnam.

The visit is part of the activities to mark 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the 20th anniversary of defence ties between the two countries and the official elevation of bilateral ties to a strategic partnership.
According to the agenda, commanders and crews on the Australian ships will pay courtesy visits to leaders of HCM City People’s Committee, the heads of the commands of Military Region 7 and the naval force in the south. The crews will engage in several friendship activities like sport exchange and some other social activities held by the city’s Department of External Affairs.
The HMAS Anzac and Toowoomba will join ships from the Vietnam People’s Navy in some joint exercises in practicing the Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea.
