The Australian Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City September 7 announced that it will open applications for the Australian Government’s Direct Aid Program (DAP) funding round 2015-2016, for projects in the central and southern region of Vietnam.

In the 2015-2016, total DAP grants awarded by the Australian Consulate-General is expected to total approximately AU$ 355,000. Australia will provide an estimated AU$ 89.9 million in Official Development Assistance (ODA) to Vietnam.

DAP provides grants to NGOs, community groups and other not-for-profit entities to undertake small-scale development projects aimed at addressing humanitarian hardship and advancing developmental outcomes in disadvantaged communities. The deadline for applications is October 9, 2015.

In 2014-15 the Australian Consulate-General funded 22 projects in a variety of sectors, including rural development, sanitation, and community health, in a wide range of urban and provincial locations throughout central and southern Vietnam.

The objective of DAP is to make small grants available to those organizations that may not have access to larger-scale aid or grants programs.

Guidelines and application forms for the 2015-16 DAP grants are available at: www.hcmc.vietnam.embassy.gov.au.
